Pakistan will play three ODIs against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka
Pakistan and Afghanistan are set to face off in a three-match ODI series commencing on August 22 and will wrap up with the final T20 match on August 26. This ODI series serves as a vital buildup to the Asia Cup 2023 and the highly anticipated 2023 World Cup, set to be played in India.
In the four previous ODIs between these teams, Pakistan has maintained an unblemished record, securing victory each time. Although they faced off in a T20I series earlier this year in the UAE, this upcoming match marks their first meeting in the 50-over format since their face-off in the 2019 World Cup.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named an 18-member squad for the upcoming series. They have included Noor Ahmad, who was phenomenal in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Fast bowlers Mohammad Saleem Safi and Wafadar Momand have also retained their spots in the squad.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are going ahead with their strongest squad possible, which is highly likely to be the same team for World Cup 2023.
