Injury Sidelines Axar Patel from Asia Cup 2023 Final, Washington Sundar Called Up
Axar Patel suffered multiple injuries in the Bangladesh match.
India all-rounder Axar Patel has been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, set to be played on Sunday, September 17 at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Washington Sundar has been called up as his replacement and he will join the India squad in Colombo on Saturday.
Axar Patel sustained several injuries in India’s recent Super 4 match against Bangladesh on Friday. The left-hand batter scored 42 runs off 34 deliveries in the match but could not take his side over the finish line.
India’s unbeaten streak in the Asia Cup 2023 was halted by Bangladesh in a dead-rubber game on Friday, as they defeated the Men in Blue by five runs. Rohit Sharma & Co. will now face Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2023.
