Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz Penalized by ICC for Damaging Ground Equipment
Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been reprimanded for violating Level 1 of ICC Code of Conduct.
Afghanistan batter, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, has been handed an official reprimand for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup league match against England in Delhi on Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
The violation committed by Gurbaz is related to Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, pertaining to ‘abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.’
Furthermore, Gurbaz has also received one demerit point, and this serves as his first offense within a 24-month period.
Why has Rahmanullah Gurbaz been Reprimanded?
Gurbaz slammed his bat on the boundary rope and chair as he left the field after being run out for 80 in the 19th over of Afghanistan’s innings against England on Sunday.
Gurbaz admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, with one demerit point added to the opener’s disciplinary record.
