With a day left in IPL 2021 auction, let's have a look at the available purse and player slots remaining for each of the eight franchises in the cash-rich league which is gearing up for its 14th edition.
IPL 2021: The auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is just a day away and all the eight franchises of the cash-rich T20 league must be brainstorming ways to pick the best players from their available purse limit. As many as 292 players are slated to go under the hammer from 3 PM onwards on Thursday, February 18 in Chennai.
The BCCI is yet to officially announce the start date of IPL 2021 but the tournament is likely to start after the second week of April. In IPL 2021 auction, 292 players will compete for 61 vacant spots. A total of 1,114 cricketers had registered for the IPL 2021 auction and the list was pruned to 292 last week.
How many slots are up for grabs at IPL 2021 mini-auction?
As 10 players, including former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith and England batsman Jason Roy, are in the Rs 2-crore bracket – the highest reserve price. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav and Hanuma Vihari are the only 2 Indian players out of 11 who have set themselves a base price of Rs 1 crore.
India Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara, Australia stars Aaron Finch and Marnus Labuschagne are some of the big names to have made the shortlist for IPL 2021 auction.
A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs at the auction.
With a whopping INR 53.2 crore under their belt, Kings XI Punjab are entering the IPL 2021 auction with the highest purse. With an available capacity of nine players (including 5 overseas), expect the Lokesh Rahul-led team to bid actively in the auction while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) have the lowest remaining purse amount at Rs 10.75 crore as both sides look to go with a tested squad in IPL 2021.
