No Brendan Taylor, Craig Ervine in Zimbabwe Squad For Afghanistan Tests

Zimbabwe announced a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Afghanistan. The two-Test series will kick off on March 2, which will be followed by three T20Is.

Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine have missed out as Zimbabwe announced a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Afghanistan on Tuesday, February 16. Tendai Chatara, Chamu Chibhabha and PJ Moor are also out with injuries.

The two-Test series will kick off on March 2, which will be followed by three T20Is. All the matches will be hosted in Abu Dhabi. Zimbabwe has not played a Test since February 2020 when they played a one-off game against Bangladesh in Dhaka. Ervine was the captain as his team succumbed to an innings defeat.

Tarisai Musakanda, who hasn’t played an international game since his debut in Sri Lanka in 2017, has also been recalled to the Zimbabwe side. The 26-year-old has been recalled to the side at the back of good performances with the bat in the National Premier League, which included back-to-back centuries for the Southern.

The board has also recalled middle-order batsman and part-time legspinner Ryan Burl, who played a brilliant knock in Test in 2017 against South Africa. Meanwhile, uncapped Wessely Madhevere has also been picked in the 15-member squad.

Zimbabwe cricket team will tour Afghanistan next month for a two-match Test series, starting on March 2, and are set to leave for Abu Dhabi on Friday.
