Colin Munro’s exceptional batting display, scoring an unbeaten 99, propelled Brisbane Heat to a resounding 102-run victory over Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League opener at the Gabba on December 7.
Colin Munro‘s aggressive innings of unbeaten 99 runs from 61 balls, highlighted by nine boundaries and five mighty sixes, laid the foundation for Brisbane Heat’s imposing total.
Max Bryant’s late fireworks added the finishing touches as they concluded the first innings at 214 runs. He smashed three back-to-back boundaries on the last three balls of the last over as Munro missed a century by just one run.
Colin Munro, just one run shy of a century, spoke at the mid-inning break without any regrets, shedding light on his thoughts about the near miss:
“99 or hundred, it doesn’t really matter.”
In reply, the Melbourne Stars were bowled out for just 111 runs in 15.1 overs. Mitchell Swepson was the pick of bowlers for the Heat, having claimed a three-wicket haul while the likes of Michael Nesser and Xavier Bartlett picked up two wickets each.
