Shoaib Malik Releases Official Statement on Fixing Accusations
Shoaib Malik's contract with Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League was terminated by franchise

The Bangladesh media reported on January 26th morning that Shoaib Malik’s contract with Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League was terminated, as the franchise opted to cut ties with him over concerns related to match-fixing.
However, contrary to earlier reports, Barishal team owner Mizanur Rahman debunked the false reports in an official video, asserting that Malik remains an important player for the team. In a 45-second statement, he vehemently opposed the rumours circulating about the player.
Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik took to X (formerly Twitter) and dropped a detailed post, shutting down all the rumours. He made it clear that speculating about fixing and rumours of Fortune Barishal terminating his contract are all absurd. He also revealed the reason behind his return to Dubai.
Here’s what Shoaib Malik wrote on Twitter:
“I would like to address and dismiss the recent rumors circulating about my playing position with Fortune Barishal. I had a thorough discussion with our captain, Tamim Iqbal, and we mutually planned the way forward. I had to leave Bangladesh for a pre-committed media engagement in Dubai.”
“I extend my best wishes to Fortune Barishal for their upcoming matches, and if needed, I am available to support them if needs be. I have always found joy in playing the game and will continue to do so.”
