Sarfaraz Khan kicked off his Test career with a bang, scoring fifties in both innings of his debut match against England in Rajkot. He played stellar innings of 62 (66) and an unbeaten 68* (72) as India secured their largest-ever victory margin of 434 runs.

Delhi Capitals Parted Ways With Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan’s stint with the Delhi Capitals (DC) ended as the franchise released him before IPL 2024, citing his low score of 53 runs from four matches. Sourav Ganguly, the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, attributed Sarfaraz’s release to his performance, labelling him as a ‘Test match’ player.

Sarfaraz burst onto the IPL scene in 2015 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at just 17 years old. Despite limited opportunities, he showcased his talent with some impactful cameos, scoring 111 runs at an impressive strike rate of 156.33, including a highest score of unbeaten 45.

Battle Between RCB, KKR and CSK for Sarfaraz Khan

Following a couple of subdued seasons with Punjab, Sarfaraz moved to Delhi in 2022. Now, after his release from DC, reports suggest three franchises are vying for his services ahead of IPL 2024.

A report from Anandabazar Patrika suggests that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir is keen on recruiting Sarfaraz. However, stiff competition is expected from Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who are also keen to acquire his services.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are also in a fray to secure services of the Mumbai wicket-keeper batters.
