Delhi Capital’s Playing 11 vs PBKS

Last season, DC finished 9th with 10 points due to injuries, Warner’s strike rate, and an unsettled middle order, resulting in their early exit from the tournament. This season, DC aims to start their campaign strongly and gain confidence early, something they lacked last season.

In the auction, DC focused on picking wicketkeepers as Pant’s availability wasn’t confirmed. They acquired talented players like Kumar Kushagra (INR 7.2 crore), a hard-hitting batter, and Haryana’s fast-bowling all-rounder Sumit Kumar (INR 1 crore). DC boasts a much stronger batting unit compared to the last few seasons.

Apart from wicketkeepers, DC also targeted an overseas finisher, bringing in Harry Brooks (who pulled out), Tristan Stubbs, and Shai Hope. Fraser-McGurk has been named as Brooks’ replacement. With Brooks out, Stubbs is expected to start for DC and can also keep wickets. It will be interesting to see who keeps wickets for DC if Rishabh Pant doesn’t.

DC lacks quality overseas pacers, especially with Ngidi ruled out and no replacement named. Nortje, though available, has a long injury history. DC will once again rely on their Indian pace attack, which includes the likes of Mukesh, Khaleel, and the experienced Ishant Sharma. Their spin bowling is also strong this year with Kuldeep, Axar, and Praveen Dubey.

Pitch conditions are not known as this will be the first match here.
