Naman Dhir, in his Mumbai Indians debut, launched a rapid assault, scoring 20 runs off a mere 10 balls, featuring three fours and a six, while chasing down 169 runs against Gujarat Titans.
Who is Naman Dhir? Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Punjab All-Rounder
Naman Dhir, originally from Ambala in Haryana, shifted to Punjab to continue his cricket career. He was on the winning Punjab team that won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2023 and scored two centuries in the Ranji Trophy against Saurashtra and Gujarat.
Dhir, bowling his off-spin, completed the tenth over for Gujarat Titans, giving away 13 runs. Following Ishan Kishan’s early dismissal for a duck, Dhir managed to score three boundaries and a six off Azmatullah Omarzai’s bowling.
However, his innings was ended by Omarzai in the subsequent over, getting him lbw for 22 runs off 15 balls with the help of a DRS review. Rohit Sharma, who enjoyed his batting from the other end, was visibly upset with his dismissal.
MI scouts spotted him, and Dhir got drafted in the auction for a base price of 20 lakhs. Interestingly, Naman earned a spot in Mumbai Indians’ starting lineup when Suryakumar Yadav got sidelined due to injury.
