Following his departure from Gujarat Titans (GT) to become captain of Mumbai Indians (MI), Hardik Pandya found himself under intense scrutiny and backlash from fans.

The criticism peaked during the MI vs GT match in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 24, Sunday, where MI suffered a narrow defeat by six runs.

The atmosphere at Ahmedabad stadium, once his fortress, turned unexpectedly cold towards Hardik. Despite leading the Titans to back-to-back IPL finals, the 30-year-old faced discontent from fans for his departure.

Several videos spread across social media showed fans booing him persistently during the match, with some resorting to derogatory comments. In one video, fans could be heard making disrespectful remarks like ‘chapri, chapri’ as he left the field.
