IPL 2024 – Match 7, CHE vs GT Match Prediction: Who Will Win Today’s Match?

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GY) will be locking horns against each other in game number 7 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on the 26th of March.

 Both teams are coming off a win in their respective first games. Chennai Super Kings won their first game against RCB by 6 wickets whereas Gujarat Titans won their opening game by 6 runs against Mumbai Indians.

What To Expect?

Chennai has normally been a win the toss and bowl first and it will not surprise anyone if the captain who calls right opts to do the same. During the opening game of the IPL 2024 season, the pitch was at its best behaviour as CSK chased down 175 with ease. Expect the spinners to come in a lot more as the season progresses. CSK’S Strengths 

 New Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and his new opening partner Rachin Ravindra got the home side off to a flying start chasing 174 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, CSK systematically went about knocking the target down, starting with the opening pair of Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra who got them off to a flyer and new CSK debutant Mustafizur Rahman crumbled RCB with his bowling.

CSK’s Weaknesses

The team will be anxiously awaiting the return of their top death bowler, Matheesha Pathirana, who is sidelined due to injury. Though Mustafizur Rehman had a dream starting spell of 4/29 against RCB but still other pacers consisting of Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar went off for an economy over 9.

GT’s Strengths 

Gujarat’s gamble to play Azmatullah Omarzai was a masterstroke as the Afghan player shone on his IPL debut with both bat and ball. Mohit Sharma and Sai Kishore also bowled brilliantly in the match and turned the tide in favour of the Titans. Shubman Gill also showcased his mettle as captain in the last match. Tewatia showed us why he must be considered one of the best finishers in the IPL.

GT’s Weaknesses

Despite having a strong batting attack, the entire team is too dependent on Shubman Gill for a big knock. It will be important for the entire team to rise to the occasion when facing CSK at the Chepauk Stadium.GT also have a wobbly middle considering the likes of Azmatullah Omarzai and Vijay Shankar. The lack of renowned all-rounders and death-over specialists may pose problems, as Umesh Yadav and Spencer Johnson leaked too many runs against MI on Sunday with an economy of 10 plus.

Conclusion

Both sides have strong top-order batters. GT have the likes of Tewatia and Rashid Khan in their lower order. Likewise, CSK bat deep, with Deepak Chahar in at number eight. Like CSK, GT has variety and depth in their bowling. Bowling against MI, GT spinners Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore slowed down the scoring rate in the middle overs. 

However, we give the Spinners an edge owing to the home conditions. CSK vs GT clash of IPL 2024 will be the match of champions. While CSK are the champions of last season, GT are the champions of the prior season. GT dominated every team last season and CSK was the only team to demolish them in the final stages. Hence, CSK vs GT will be one of the most exciting games at the start of IPL 2024.
