IPL 2024: Wankhede Intruder Fined Just 5K for Breaching Security to Meet Rohit Sharma

The individual known as Atif later confessed on his Instagram that he was fined a mere 5K for breaching security at Wankhede Stadium.

A young fan recently managed to breach the security cover at the Wankhede Stadium during the match between Mumbai Indian and Rajasthan Royals to reach out to Rohit Sharma and hug him.

While the former Mumbai Indians captain was busy adjusting field placements, the enthusiastic fan came rushing from behind. As soon as he got closer to Rohit, the latter stepped back in shock.

After that, the fan gave Rohit and even Ishan Kishan, who was behind the wickets, a handshake and a hug before the security officials escorted him off the field.

Now it has come to light that the fan was from Bihar and travelled all the way just to meet Rohit Sharma. What’s more, he handed his phone to a few people in the stands, asking them to film him as he snuck past security to meet Rohit.

Here’s what a caption of a viral video reads:

“The guy travelled from Bihar with only intent to meet Rohit Sharma, he requested us but will make a video and send him. He also offered us a Coke when we met at Dilip Vengsarkar stand. As soon as the Mumbai Indians got a wicket, he took the chance of distraction and jumped across and was later caught by the security officials. He was also released by them with a warning and no fine was imposed on him.”

Atif, the person involved, later took to his Instagram to reveal that he was slapped with a mere 5K fine, which is quite astonishing given the reports suggesting that those trespassing security would face severe consequences along with hefty fines.
