IPL 2024: AB de Villiers Advises Virat Kohli to Stay Longer While Batting for RCB
AB de Villiers also advised Faf du Plessis to take more risk.
Ex-South African cricket star, AB de Villiers, suggests that Faf du Plessis, captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), should adopt a more aggressive batting approach to set the tone for the team’s innings.
Faf du Plessis‘ recent form with the bat has raised concerns for RCB throughout this tournament. Unlike the previous season, where he appeared invincible and ruthless, the South African maestro has faltered to rediscover his form thus far.
Additionally, AB de Villiers, a stalwart of RCB’s IPL journey, recommends his longtime friend and batting companion, Virat Kohli, to assume the role of a finisher for the team, instead of opening the innings.
“Hopefully, Virat Kohli keeps going with his good start, because RCB need that glue in the middle overs. Let Faf take more risk upfront, and Virat, I want you to be there over 6-15 & play till the end. That is when RCB is going to fire from all cylinders,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.
Notably, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have played four matches in the tournament, registering only one win while enduring three defeats, including their recent three losses at their home base, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
