‘Never Wanted Shaheen to Take Over Captaincy from Babar Azam’ – Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi revealed that he never wanted Shaheen to captain Pakistan.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi recently revealed that he never wanted Shaheen Afridi to take charge of the Pakistan cricket team.

Afridi’s statement follows the recent replacement of his son-in-law, Shaheen Afridi, with Babar Azam as the white-ball captain.

Earlier, there were reports circulating that the PCB had released a fabricated statement purportedly attributed to Shaheen Afridi following Babar Azam’s appointment as the white-ball captain.

“I want Shaheen to focus on his own cricket. I always tried to keep Shaheen away from captaincy,” Shahid Afridi told Geo News.

Additionally, reports confirmed that Shaheen Shah Afridi was unhappy with the handling of the captaincy situation. It was revealed that he wasn’t consulted prior to being removed as captain.

While Babar Azam has assumed leadership of the white-ball format, the test team’s captaincy remains under Shan Masood’s purview.
