IPL 2024: Ex-Indian Cricketer Accuses Virat Kohli of Using Fans to Hide RCB Failures

Manoj Tiwary accused Virat Kohli of using his fans to hide RCB failures.

Former Bengal cricketer, Manoj Tiwary, criticized Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), suggesting that the team’s fan base is solely because of Virat Kohli, not the franchise itself.

Manoj Tiwary stated that RCB hasn’t really done much to earn such a huge fan base. They have been at it for 16 seasons straight, and even now, when they are barely in the race, they still haven’t bagged an IPL trophy.

The ex-Indian cricketer also pointed out that fans mainly show up to RCB matches just to watch Virat Kohli bat. He further went on to question why they bother playing if they are not aiming for the trophy.

“This is too much from RCB fans. You can’t hide your failures by talking about your fan base. Fans are behind Virat Kohli; they are coming to watch him bat. This is the 17th season of the IPL, and they are already out of the IPL trophy race. I wonder why they are even playing?,” Tiwary told Cricbuzz.

RCB has only won one out of seven matches in the tournament and is currently at the bottom of the points table. From now on, almost every game is a must-win situation for them to stay in contention for the playoffs.
