Ajay Jadeja Mentored the Afghanistan Team for Free in 2023 ODI World Cup
Ajay Jadeja didn’t take any money from the Afghanistan Cricket Board for mentoring their nation team during ODI World Cup 2023.
In a heartwarming revelation, it has come to light that former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja provided his services as a mentor to the Afghanistan cricket team during the 2023 ODI World Cup – entirely for free.
Jadeja’s guidance proved to be a boon for Afghanistan. The team secured a historic victory over Pakistan for the first time in ODI history and finished an impressive sixth in the points table, winning four out of their nine matches.
According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) CEO, Ajay Jadeja declined any compensation, stating, “If you play well, that’s all the money & reward I need.” This selfless act shows Jadeja’s passion for the sport and his desire to see Afghanistan cricket flourish.
The Afghan team’s success continues in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. They have secured a spot in the Super 8 stage after three consecutive victories. They have one final group stage match remaining against the West Indies, who have also qualified for the Super 8s.
