Asia Cup 2023: Shubman Gill Becomes Fastest Indian Batter to Score 1500 ODI Runs

Shubman Gill was 53 runs away from achieving this milestone

Shubman Gill, the rising star of Indian cricket, made history as he became the fastest Indian batter to reach 1,500 runs in ODIs during the Asia Cup 2023 match against Nepal in Pallekele on Monday, September 04.

The star Indian batter stepped onto the field needing 53 runs to reach the milestone. Gill (67*) joined forces with the India captain Rohit Sharma to guide India to a resounding 10-wicket victory over Nepal using the DLS method.

Gill opened his innings with an explosive boundary and maintained his attacking style. He blazed his way to a 62-ball 67*, including 8 fours and 1 six. This breathtaking knock marked his seventh fifty in the 50-over format.

Having made his ODI debut in 2019, the Punjab batter accomplished the feat of scoring 1,500 runs in 29 innings, the same number of matches. The previous fastest Indian to achieve this milestone was Shreyas Iyer, who did it in 34 innings.
