BCCI Announces 20-Man India Test Squad for WTC Final and England Test Series
The BCCI has announced a 20-man squad for India’s upcoming tour of England with an added 4 players named standby.
WTC 2021 Final: Team India set up an ICC World Test Championship final clash with New Zealand after trouncing England 3-1 in the Test series played in March. India was the dominant side throughout the league cycle, winning five out of the six series they played. Their only series loss came against New Zealand in 2020.
The World Test Championship final is scheduled to start on 18 June 2021 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Now, Kane Williamson’s Black Caps stand between India and the World Test Championship (WTC) title, and the Indian side would need to get their best side on the park if they have to beat the Kiwis. On that note, let us take a look at the squad our selection committee has picked on Friday for the big battle in Southampton.
Indian Squad For WTC Final
BCCI has named 20 players squad for the World Test Championship Final. The squad will also play the five-match Test series scheduled against England after the WTC finals. Team India will first stop in Southampton where they play New Zealand to decide the first champion of the Test format.
Virat Kohli will lead Team India, whereas, Ajinkya Rahane will be the vice-captain. KL Rahul and Wriddhiman Saha are subject to fitness clearance after undergoing surgery (for Appendicitis) and testing positive for COVID-19 respectively.
