Big Injury Blow for New Zealand as Star Player Set to Be Ruled Out of ICC World Cup 2023
New Zealand pacer fractured a bone in his right thumb while fielding
New Zealand pacer Tim Southee is doubtful for the ICC World Cup 2023 after he fractured a bone in his right thumb while fielding during the fourth and final one-day international against England on Friday.
“An x-ray has confirmed that Tim Southee dislocated and fractured a bone in his right thumb while attempting to take a catch in the 14th over of the 1st innings. “A timeline for his recovery will be established tomorrow when he undergoes further assessment,” NZC said in a statement.
If Tim Southee can’t make it to the ICC World Cup 2023, it’ll be a massive blow for New Zealand because he’s their seasoned fast bowler. On the bright side, Kiwis can celebrate Kane Williamson’s comeback after being away from cricket for over six months.
