Bollywood Actor Salman Khan’s family buys Lanka Premier League’s Kandy franchise

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has bought the Kandy Tuskers Franchise in the Lankan Premier League (LPL). His younger brother Sohail Khan and father Salim Khan, who are a part of the consortium has made a investment.

According to a report in the Times of India, bollywood actor Salman Khan has bought the Kandy Tuskers Franchise in the Lankan Premier League (LPL). His younger brother Sohail Khan and father Salim Khan, who are a part of the consortium has made a investment.

The player draft for the tournament took place over the last few days as the contest is set to get underway from November 21. While talking to the Times of India, Sohail Khan gave the confirmation regarding investment and also said that the league (LPL) has a lot of potential.

“Given the players in our team, the league in general, and the passion of the fans, which are second to none, we see a lot of potential,” Sohail Khan told The Times of India.

He also confirmed that Salman Khan will attend all the matches of Kandy Tuskers during the league this year.

The Lankan Premier League is scheduled to start from November 21 and will conclude on December 13, 2020. Total 23 matches will be played in the tournament. According to an official media release, all the matches of the league will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy and Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Five teams will be featured in the upcoming Lankan Premier League- Colombo Kings, Dambulla Hawks, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Stallions and Kandy Tuskers.

Sohail Khan was delighted to have some of the international stars in the team. Apart from the top Sri Lankan players, the team managed to get hold of some international star players like Wahab Riaz, Chris Gayle and Liam Plunkett.

“Gayle is obviously the Boss Man, but we have a very good team. Kusal Perera is our local icon and we also have Liam Plunkett, Wahab Riaz, Kusal Mendis and Nuwan Pradeep among others. It is a good balance of youth and experience,” he further said.
