Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are all set to face Mumbai Indians (MI) at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, in Match 8 of IPL 2024 on 27th March, Wednesday.
Both SRH and MI lost their first match. SRH lost the match by just 4 runs, and MI lost by 6 runs. SRH would be happy with their performance in the first match, especially with the bat, but they need to come up with a better bowling performance against MI.
No Head for SRH in the First Match:
SRH, in their first match against KKR, decided not to play Travis Head. SRH played the same openers, Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma, who opened for them in the previous season, and both didn’t disappoint, stitching an attacking 60-run partnership off 33 balls, providing a solid start to SRH in a run chase of 209.

People had doubts about Markram’s place in the SRH playing 11 once they replaced him with Pat Cummins as captain, but SRH decided to start with Markram over Glenn Phillips and even Travis Head. SRH has a good headache in choosing their 4 overseas players, as they have plenty of quality overseas players to choose from, with Cummins and Klaasen being the sure starters.
T Natrajan and M Markande Impress in the First Match:
Natarajan, who had a memorable IPL 2020, returned with good figures in the first match for SRH, and Markande too impressed with his leg spin. He was a consistent performer in IPL 2018, but since then, it’s been up and down for the leggie. Both Natarajan and Markande will look to leave a positive impact this year.
Marco Jansen a Concern for SRH:
Left-arm pacer Jansen was chosen by SRH over Fazalhaq Farooqi, who has been consistent for Afghanistan and has an economy rate of just 6.74 in the 37 T20Is that he has played so far, whereas Jansen has an economy rate of 9.21 in IPL. SRH can think about bringing in Farooqi for the match against MI.
