List of Players Dismissed ‘Timed Out’ in Cricket History
Here is a list of cricketers who were dismissed in the rare 'Timed Out' way, losing their wicket without facing a ball.

Cricket is full of records, some good and some unfortunate. One such rare and unlucky dismissal is ‘Timed Out.’ This means a batter is declared out without facing a ball because they did not reach the crease on time.
What is ‘Timed Out’ in Cricket?
In cricket, a new batter must be ready to face the next ball within three minutes after a wicket falls. If the batter fails to arrive at the crease in time, the fielding team can appeal, and the batter will be given out as ‘Timed Out.’ Since the batter does not play a ball, it is also known as a ‘diamond duck’ or ‘platinum duck.’
This dismissal is extremely rare in professional cricket but has happened a few times in history.
Players Who Got Out ‘Timed Out’
Many players have faced this unfortunate dismissal. The first known case was Andrew Jordaan in a domestic match in South Africa in 1987-88. Later, in 1997-98, Hemulal Yadav from India became the first officially recorded player to be timed out.
Some other players who faced the same fate include Vasbert Drakes, Andrew Harris, and Ryan Austin in first-class cricket.

In 2023, Sri Lankan cricketer Angelo Mathews became the first international player to be dismissed in this way during the ODI World Cup against Bangladesh. Later, Ghana’s Godfred Bakiweyem also got out ‘Timed Out’ in a T20I match against Sierra Leone.
Recently, Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel became the latest player to be timed out during a first-class match when he failed to arrive at the crease on time.
