IPL 2024: ‘Mumbai Indians May Reappoint Rohit Sharma As Captain Before Delhi Capitals Game’

Manoj Tiwary believes that Mumbai Indians will reappoint Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians’ captain ahead of DC game.

The Mumbai Indians, renowned for their motto ‘One Family,’ now appear fractured and divided amid reports of player ‘rift’ and mounting criticism directed at their new captain, Hardik Pandya.

Regardless of the venue, Hardik Pandya faces relentless booing and even abusive, casteist slurs from fans as he leads the Mumbai Indians, whether it’s in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, or most recently, Mumbai.

Adding to their woes, the Mumbai Indians have suffered three consecutive losses, intensifying the pressure on Hardik Pandya. In light of this, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary predicts a return to Rohit Sharma‘s captaincy for the team.

The Mumbai Indians’ next match isn’t until April 7 against the Delhi Capitals, which feels like forever since their last game. Manoj Tiwary reckons they might as well bring back Rohit Sharma as captain during this long break.

“I have this feeling that during this break (MI next play on April 7), Rohit Sharma could be given back the captaincy from Hardik Pandya,” Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.

“Whatever little I understand, these franchises and owners, they don’t hesitate in taking calls. They had started it when they took the captaincy from Rohit and gave it to Hardik. Now it’s pretty big when you change a captain who has won you five titles. And now that they haven’t won a single game and the captaincy also looks jaded, mistakes are happening,” Manoj Tiwary added.

Amidst all this, there have been reports emerging that Rohit Sharma is unhappy with the Mumbai Indians management, suggesting he might part ways with the team ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction next year.
