Ajinkya Rahane Named KKR Captain for IPL 2025, Venkatesh Iyer as Vice-Captain

Ajinkya Rahane has been appointed as the captain of KKR ahead of IPL 2025.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have appointed Ajinkya Rahane as their captain for the IPL 2025 season. Venkatesh Iyer will be his deputy, taking on the role of vice-captain.

KKR’s New Leadership Duo

KKR CEO Venky Mysore confirmed the appointments, stating that Rahane’s experience and leadership skills will benefit the team.

“Rahane’s experience and leadership will be invaluable, while Venkatesh Iyer, a key player for us, brings strong leadership qualities. We are confident in their ability to guide the team as we defend our title,” Mysore said.

Rahane, who has previously led India in Test cricket, expressed his excitement about the new role.

“Leading KKR is an honour. We have a well-balanced squad, and I look forward to working together to defend our title,” he said.

KKR’s IPL 2025 Campaign

KKR will start their IPL 2025 season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens on March 22. The team will aim to build on their success from last season and add another trophy to their cabinet.

The franchise has won the IPL title three times (2012, 2014, 2024) and finished as runners-up in 2021.
