Ajinkya Rahane Returns as India Names Squad for WTC Final Against Australia

Ajinkya Rahane back in India’s squad for WTC final against Australia.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday, April 25 announced a 15-man squad for the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 final on Tuesday, April 25.

Rohit Sharma will continue leading the team while in a surprising turn of events, Ajinkya Rahane has made a comeback to the team on the back of his stellar performance in the IPL.

KL Rahul has also been given another chance after being dropped in the last couple of matches against Australia in the BGT 2023 while KS Bharat has been picked as a wicket-keeper batter but it is highly unlikely that he will feature in the playing XI.

As for the pace attack, along with Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has also been retained in the 5-man pace attack for the WTC final.

India has made it to the World Test Championship final for the second time, while Australia, who topped the table, has reached their first-ever final. Rohit Sharma’s team secured their spot in the final by defeating Australia 2-1 at home recently.
