Ashes 2023: Harry Brook Becomes Fastest to Reach 1000 Runs in Test Cricket
Harry Brook sets a new record as the quickest player to reach the milestone of 1000 runs in Test cricket.
England’s batting sensation Harry Brook completes 1000 Test runs with an explosive second-innings knock at the Leeds Test match on Sunday, 9 July.
The 24-year-old played a match-winning knock of 75 runs from 93 balls while chasing 251 runs. His knock was braced with nine boundaries as England won the Test by three wickets to keep the Ashes series alive.
With this, the young English batter sets a new record as the quickest player to reach the milestone in Test cricket in terms of the number of deliveries faced. Brook took just 1058 balls to complete 1000 Test runs.
New Zealand’s Colin De Grandhomme held the record till now as he reached the mark in 1140 deliveries. Interestingly, the Kiwi pacer Tim Southee stands third in this list with 1167 balls to reach the milestone, followed by England’s Ben Duckett, who made 1000 runs in 1168 balls.
Brook, who is currently playing just his 10th Test match took 16 innings to reach this milestone, which is the joint 6th highest in the history of Test cricket.
In terms of matches played, Don Bradman stands tall as the quickest to accumulate 1000 runs. The Australian batting maestro accomplished this milestone in just 7 Test matches.
