Ashes 2023: James Anderson Dropped for Third Test as England Announces Playing XI

England has announced their playing XI for the 3rd test of Ashes 2023.

England has unveiled their playing XI for the upcoming third Test against Australia, set to take place at Headingley, Leeds, starting from Wednesday, July 6.

Following the second Test, England has made three key changes to their squad. Moeen Ali returns to action, taking the place of Ollie Pope, while Mark Wood replaces Josh Tongue in an exciting move.

Additionally, Chris Woakes steps in for James Anderson, the pace spearhead, in the final change. The 40-year-old had a couple of ordinary outings in the first two Tests for the hosts.

England Playing XI for 3rd Test:

Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Ben Stokes (c), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad.

With victories in the first two Test matches, Australia has taken a 2–0 lead in the ongoing series. As the teams prepare for the third test, tensions are high and so are stakes. While England aims to bounce back and prevent the visitors from taking an unassailable lead, Australia will be looking to retain the Ashes urn.
