The Asia Cup 2023 kicked off with Pakistan setting the stage on fire, crushing Nepal by a massive margin of 238 runs in their opening match at Multan Cricket Stadium. Their dominance continued against their arch-nemesis, India, as they bowled them out for 266 runs. However, persistent rain led to the abandonment of the match before the second innings could commence.
Furthermore, they maintained their control by securing a seven-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the Super Four encounter on Wednesday, September 6 in Lahore. Their next challenge awaits as they prepare to face the arch-rivals India in the Super Four stage clash scheduled for September 10 in Colombo.
Meanwhile, ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, has spoken out about the team’s mindset, stressing their confidence, lack of pressure, and unwavering commitment to giving their utmost in the game.
“No, not really (on being asked about pressure ahead of the India match). This win against Bangladesh will give us confidence, and we are always up for a big challenge. We will give our 100 percent in the next match,” Babar Azam said in the post-match conference.
Once again, Team India’s top-order struggled to counter the pace trio of Pakistan in their previous group stage encounter. It’s set to be a formidable challenge as they go up against the trio of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf, who continue to wreak havoc in the tournament.
