AUS vs PAK: PCB Names Mohammad Nawaz as Replacement for Injured Noman Ali
Mohammad Nawaz has replaced Noman Ali for the Test series against Australia.
Mohammad Nawaz has been named as the replacement for spinner Noman Ali, who has been ruled out of the ongoing Test series against Australia due to an acute appendicitis, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday, December 23.
Notably, Noman Ali became the second player in two days to withdraw from the remainder of the Australia three-Test series due to illness and injury.
Earlier, Khurram Shahzad, who registered a magnificent figures of 5:128 in his Test debut in Perth, was ruled out for the remainder of the series with a rib stress fracture and muscle tear.
“It is really unfortunate that Noman Ali is not available for the Test matches. Due to logistical challenges, including visa issues for any new player, and considering the requirement for a left-arm spinner, Nawaz was the best available choice for the side,” Wahab Riaz, chief selector of the men’s cricket team, said in a statement released by PCB.
Pakistan lost the opening Test by 360 runs. The teams play the second Test in Melbourne beginning on Boxing Day, with the third Test set to be played in Sydney from January 3.
