Australia’a star batter Steve Smith equaled Sir Donald Bradman’s Test tally of 29 Test hundreds when he reached three figures against the West Indies at Perth Stadium on Thursday, December 1.
While the legendary batter Don Bradman took 79 Test innings to score 29 hundreds, Sachin Tendulkar stands second in this tally with 148 innings.
Meanwhile, Steve Smith is the latest addition to this tally, who accomplished this feat in 155 innings. Matthew Hayden (166), Sunil Gavaskar (166), and Ricky Ponting (169) occupies fourth, fifth and sixth position in this list.
As for Australia, only former captain and legend Ricky Ponting (41), Steve Waugh (32), and Matthew Hayden (30) have scored more hundreds in the longest and ultimate format of the game.
Steve Smith went on to score a double century as the hosts declared the inning with the scoreboard reading 598 for the loss of four wickets.
Earlier, after losing opener David Warner cheaply on the first morning, Labuschagne joined hands with opener Usman Khawaja (65) in a 142-run second-wicket stand to set up the innings.
After Khawaja’s departure, Labuschagne, the top run-scorer for the hosts in the first with 204 runs partnered with Steve Smith (200*) in a 251-run third-wicket stand to help Australia breach the 400-run mark. Meanwhile, Travis Head was unfortunate to get dismissed on 99.
