Babar Azam Faces Backlash for Wasting Review Despite Being Plumb Out During ENG vs PAK 2nd T20I

Babar Azam was plumb out but he still went upstairs to review it.

Pakistan’s batting mainstay Babar Azam had a forgettable moment during the ongoing T20I against England at Edgbaston.

Riding high on Moeen Ali’s exceptional bowling spell, England had Pakistan reeling after losing both openers early. Just as a partnership was blossoming between Azam and Fakhar Zaman, Moeen struck gold.

It all happened in the ninth over when Babar, looking well-settled, attempted a risky sweep shot off Moeen’s bowling. The ball, however, wasn’t full enough, and Babar completely missed it, rapping him plumb in front.

The English players erupted in an appeal, which was promptly upheld by the on-field umpire.

Surprisingly, despite knowing he hadn’t made any contact with the bat, the Pakistan skipper opted for a review. This decision backfired spectacularly, with HawkEye confirming three reds, leaving the on-field call unchanged and Pakistan a batter down.

Babar Azam has been slammed by the Netizens for wasting a review.

Meanwhile, Pakistan lost the game by 23 runs, with England taking a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.
