BBL 2022-23: Jhye Richardson Ruled Out for 2-3 Weeks Due to Hamstring Strain

Scorcher's Jhye Richardson is ruled out for two-three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.

Perth Scorchers suffered a huge blow ahead of their next against Brisbane Heat on Saturday, January 7th, as their star pacer Jhye Richardson is ruled out for at least two-three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.

Richardson has been impressive for the Perth Scorchers this season, having picked up 15 wickets from 7 matches. He is the joint-second highest wicket-taker of the ongoing season of the Big Bash League.

The fast bowler underwent subsequent scans to ascertain the gravity of the injury, and the reports suggest a minor strain. Adam Voges, the coach of Scorchers shared an update on the speedster, stating;

“It’s on the very minor end of hamstring strains, two to three weeks. We’re certainly hopeful that we’ll see him before the end of the tournament again.”

“I think you need to be cautious, certainly with someone of Jhye’s calibre. But we’ve got a world-class medical staff here. And I’ll trust them to put the work in with Jhye over the next two weeks. And hopefully, we’ll see him back, and we’ll get him back to the park as soon as possible.”

Perth Scorchers at the Top of the Points Table

The defending champions, despite missing the services of their key players like Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt have managed to impress in the tournament so far. With five wins from seven games, they are currently placed at the second position of the points table.

They lost their most recent fixture against Sydney Thunder by six wickets and must be looking to bounce back stronger in their next game against Brisbane Heat, scheduled to be played on Saturday, January 7 at Perth.
