BBL Becoming a Joke Because of Umpiring Howlers: Shane Warne

Former Australia spinner and legend Shane Warne looked disappointed with the umpiring howlers that have taken place in ongoing Big Bash League. On Monday, he even slammed Cricket Australia for not having Decision Review System (DRS) in the ongoing tournament.
Warne’s response was undoubtedly directed at the recent umpiring howlers that have taken place in BBL 2020-21. Brisbane Heat’s Tom Cooper, on Saturday, was given out due to a disastrous umpiring decision. But in reality, the ball clearly edged the bat and hit the right pad, but the umpire lifted his finger to give it out.
Shane Warne in frustration took to social media to call out the blunders.
“I’m sorry but who is in charge of the umpires in Australia? Every game we see horrible mistakes & it’s embarrassing for the BBL completion! The big bash is a wonderful tournament but it’s fast becoming a joke and could ruin players careers. Please can we have DRS immediately!” Shane Warne tweeted on Monday.
He followed it up with another team saying that Cricket Australia needs to get the DRS immediately otherwise BBL will become a joke and will lose out on international players
“No one likes to criticise the umps as it’s a tough job-we know that. But whilst these howlers continue, what do we do? Say, everyone makes mistakes & accept it? CA have to implement DRS immediately or we won’t attract big international players & the BBL won’t be taken seriously,” Warne added.
Enough is Enough, We Have Got to Have DRS: Shane Warne
Warne, even while commentating criticised the absence of DRS in the tournament and urged Cricket Australia to bring in the DRS in the Big Bash League.
Hit it, didn’t he? He’s hit it, didn’t he?” Warne said. “OH MY GOODNESS! What is going on with this umpiring? Something has to be done, this is ridiculous,” he said on Fox Cricket.
“Just come on. Enough’s enough. Enough is enough. We’ve seen too much of this. If we want to take this competition seriously, we’ve got to have DRS. Cricket Australia just have to pay for it. We can’t have these decisions,” Warne said.
