BCCI Calls IPL Team Owners for Mega Auction Talks on April 16

Owners of IPL teams are scheduled to gather for a conference with BCCI on Tuesday, April 16, in Ahmedabad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called the owners of Indian Premier League (IPL) teams to meet in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, April 16.

This meeting precedes the mega auction planned for the 2025 IPL, marking the 18th season of the event.

Despite earlier suggestions of scrapping the mega auction, BCCI aims to continue the tradition of infusing new talent into teams striving for the IPL trophy.

Gujarat Titans will clash with Delhi Capitals at the grand Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 16, coinciding with the meeting of IPL team owners.

The meeting, exclusive to owners, is expected to draw participation from BCCI officials including President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, and IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal. Hemang Amin, IPL’s CEO, is reported to have issued the invitations.

IPL Owners to Consider Right to Match Cards, Salary Cap with BCCI

While the meeting’s agenda remains undisclosed, speculations revolve around IPL policy decisions, notably the mega auction.

The number of player retention per team is anticipated to be a main point, with varied opinions among teams.

Discussions may also involve reinstating the Right to Match Card (RTM) absent in the last mega auction. Additionally, deliberations on the salary cap, likely to increase due to augmented central revenue shares, are expected.
