“Black Day Of Indian Premier League”: Twitterati Reacts As David Warner Dropped From SRH Playing XI

David Warner, who was axed as SRH captain on Saturday, has been dropped from the side's playing XI vs RR on Sunday. SRH director of cricket Tom Moody has confirmed the development ahead of the match.

David Warner, who was axed as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain on Saturday, has now been dropped from the team’s playing XI against Rajasthan Royals to be played on May 2, 2021, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The SRH head coach Tom Moody confirmed before their match against Rajasthan Royals that David Warner was dropped from the side, acknowledging that it was a “hard call.”

Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bowl against RR in Delhi. Mohammad Nabi is the overseas player who replaced the outgoing Warner in the SRH lineup, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also back for the side.

“David Warner will no be playing in this particular game. It’s purely a decision based on combinations. We have sort of come to a conclusion that at this stage that 2 overseas batsmen, an all-rounder and Rashid Khan is our best combination,” Tom Moody said.

We looked it very closely. Obviously, Bairstow’s form and Kane Willaimson’s form is at a great height and we are very thrilled on the way they are playing. We had to make a hard call and someone had to miss out and unfortunately David Warner at this occasion,” he added.

David Warner lead SRH to their maiden IPL trumph in IPL 2016 and is the first overseas batsman to score over 5,000 runs in the IPL. The New South Wales-born cricketer has won the Orange Cap thrice in the Indian Premier League.

Undoubtedly, this comes as a shocking development given the fact that Warner is the second-highest run-getter at the moment for SRH. He has scored 193 runs in six matches so far but his strike-rate of around 110 has raised eyebrows. The franchise also had to face a flak from the fans for this decision.
