Fortune Barishal edged past Khulna Tigers by 7 runs in a nail-biting contest in Match 30 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 at the Zahur Ahmad Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. After setting a challenging target of 168, Barishal held their nerve in the final overs to secure a crucial win.
Barishal’s Innings: Mahmudullah Anchors Amidst Wickets
Barishal’s decision to bat first initially seemed to backfire as they were reduced to 1/2 within the first over, with skipper Tamim Iqbal and Dawid Malan departing for ducks. However, Towhid Hridoy steadied the innings with a composed 36 off 30 balls. Mahmudullah played the anchor role, scoring 50 off 45 balls, while Rishad Hossain’s explosive 39 off 19 balls in the death overs gave the innings much-needed momentum.
