Cricket Australia to Investigate Abandoned BBL Match Over Unsafe Pitch
The BBL match between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers was abandoned on Sunday due to unsafe pitch.
Cricket Australia is set to conduct a comprehensive review of the events leading to the abandonment of a Big Bash League match in Geelong on Sunday, December 10.
Thousands of fans flocked to Simonds Stadium for the fourth BBL season clash between Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers. Unfortunately, the game was abandoned after a mere 6.5 overs, with the pitch being declared unsafe.
“CA will conduct a thorough review into the extremely frustrating circumstances that have resulted in the game being abandoned and a huge disappointment for fans and players,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.
Both Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers will be awarded an equal share of the points following the abandonment of their match.
