CSK Coach Stephen Fleming Confirms No Replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings will not sign an injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have had a rough start to their IPL 2025 campaign. After playing five matches, the team has managed to win only once — their opening game against Mumbai Indians. Since then, they have lost four consecutive matches.

To make matters worse, their captain and top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury. His absence has affected both leadership and batting at the top.

Following Gaikwad’s injury, MS Dhoni has taken over the captaincy once again. The experienced wicketkeeper-batter is now leading the side for the rest of the season.

There were speculations that Chennai might bring in a replacement for Gaikwad, especially with one overseas slot still left in their squad. However, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has confirmed that the team is not looking for any replacement.

Speaking to the media, Fleming said that they are going to stick with the current squad and try to find solutions from within. He also added that the team still believes in its core and is confident of bouncing back in the coming games.

With Dhoni back as captain and no new player coming in to replace Gaikwad, CSK will now have to regroup quickly and work with the options they have in the squad.
