CSK Star Sam Curran Powers Desert Vipers into Final of ILT20 2025

Sam Curran scored 34 runs from just 15 balls

Desert Vipers secured a place in the final of the ILT20 2025 against Dubai Capitals after defeating Sharjah Warriorz by 7 wickets at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on February 7. Skipper Sam Curran played a crucial role, finishing the chase in style with a blistering knock.

Sharjah Warriorz, batting first, managed to score 162/7 in 20 overs. Jason Roy was the top scorer with 73 runs off 56 balls. However, he lacked support from the other batters.

Johnson Charles (16 off 10) and Karim Janat (23 off 10) played quick cameos, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Moeen Ali (17 off 16) tried to build a partnership, but the Vipers’ bowlers kept the pressure on.

David Payne and Nathan Sowter picked up two wickets each for Desert Vipers, while Khuzaima Tanveer also struck twice.

Sam Curran’s Late Blitz Seals the Win

Chasing 163, Desert Vipers started strongly with Alex Hales (47 off 29) and Max Holden (48 off 34) providing a solid platform. Both batters missed their half-centuries, but they ensured a comfortable start for their team.

Skipper Sam Curran then took charge and finished the match in style. He smashed an unbeaten 34 off just 15 balls, including three fours and two sixes. His aggressive knock left the Sharjah Warriorz bowlers helpless as Desert Vipers completed the chase in just 16.4 overs.

Dan Lawrence (28* off 18) also played a handy role in the final moments.

For Sharjah Warriorz, Adam Milne was the best bowler, taking two wickets, while Dilshan Madushanka got one.

In IPL 2025, Sam Curran will be representing Chennai Super Kings.
