David Miller Punished by ICC During T20 World Cup 2024

David Miller handed a Demerit Point for showing dissent at an umpire's decision.

South Africa’s star cricketer David Miller received an official reprimand and one demerit point for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the team’s match versus England in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

This marks David Miller’s first offense in the last two years. South Africa and England faced each other at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on Friday, June 21. It was a thriller with the Proteas winning by 7 runs.

During the 19th over of the first innings, Miller objected to the on-field umpire’s decision not to signal one of Sam Curran’s deliveries as a ‘no-ball.’

The South African batter was adjudged to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses ‘dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.

The Proteas batter confessed to the offense and accepted match referee Jeff Crowe’s recommended penalty.
