DC vs RR: Longest Over in IPL! Sandeep Sharma Joins Unwanted Club with 11-Ball Over in IPL
Sandeep Sharma bowled an 11-ball over against Delhi Capitals, equalling the record for the joint-longest over in IPL history.

Rajasthan Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma bowled the joint-longest over in Indian Premier League (IPL) history during their match against Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
The final over of Delhi Capitals’ innings turned into a nightmare for both the bowler and the Royals. Sandeep started the over with three consecutive wides and later added another wide and a no-ball, making it six extras in total.
Earlier this season, Shardul Thakur also bowled an 11-ball over against Kolkata Knight Riders. Mohammed Siraj (vs MI, 2023) and Tushar Deshpande (vs LSG, 2023) have also delivered 11-ball overs in the past.
Sandeep, who had bowled three economical overs before the final one, went off track at the worst possible time. The chaos didn’t end with extras — Maheesh Theekshana dropped an easy catch at long-off, giving Tristan Stubbs a lifeline. Stubbs capitalised on it, smashing a four and a six in the same over.
In total, the 20th over cost Rajasthan Royals 19 runs, spoiling Sandeep’s final figures (4-0-33-0). His poor last over helped Delhi Capitals finish strong with 188/5 in 20 overs.
Abishek Porel top-scored for Delhi with 49 off 37 balls, hitting 3 fours and 5 sixes. He missed his half-century by just one run but held the innings together during the middle overs.
Tristan Stubbs, unbeaten on 34 off 18 balls, gave DC a boost in the death overs with two sixes and two boundaries. He scored most of his runs in the final over, taking full advantage of the dropped catch.
Skipper Axar Patel also played a blinder. He scored 34 from just 14 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. His strike rate was over 240, and he played a big role in Delhi’s late charge.
KL Rahul, who came in at number 2, added a steady 38 off 32 balls with four boundaries. His knock gave the team a good base early in the innings.
Despite a solid first spell, Sandeep Sharma’s final over may go down as one of the most forgettable overs in IPL history.
