IPL 2024: RCB Cancels Practice Session in Ahmedabad Due to Heat, Not Terror Threats

RCB will be going head-to-head against RR in the Eliminator of IPL 2024.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are all set for the Eliminator match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL 2024. However, earlier reports claiming the team cancelled their practice session due to a security threat targeting Virat Kohli have been debunked.

However, now India Today has clarified that the practice session was cancelled because of the scorching Ahmedabad heat, not any terror threats. Sources close to the stadium revealed that RCB initially planned an afternoon practice but later requested a time shift due to the harsh conditions.

The request to practice under floodlights after 6:30 PM was feasible, but RCB ultimately decided against it. With temperatures reaching a scorching 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit), prioritizing player health took precedence. The team opted to skip the session entirely to avoid potential heatstroke or other heat-related illnesses.

RCB’s Winning Momentum

This news comes amidst RCB’s magnificent comeback in the tournament. After facing elimination threats earlier in the season, they have strung together a remarkable run of six consecutive victories. Their most recent win, a convincing 17-run victory over CSK, secured their place in the playoffs.

A win against Rajasthan Royals will propel RCB into Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 24th, keeping their IPL 2024 title dreams alive. With the crucial Eliminator match approaching, RCB will be looking to maintain their winning momentum and continue their fight for the championship.
