The England & Wales Cricket Board has been in headlines since Ollie Robinson’s suspension for the offensive tweets he made 10 years back. The debutant’s performance in the 1st Test against New Zealand was overshadowed when his offensive tweets surfaced over the internet. Despite Robinson’s apology, the ECB suspended the pacer from all forms of international cricket.
In a recent development, following the Robinson controversy, another cricketer is being investigated for his racist and sexist remarks as a teenager. According to Wisden, the cricketer was under the age of 16 when he posted the tweet, owing to which they refrained from disclosing his identity.
As per ECB, the racist tweets by a second cricketer have been brought their attention and they are investigating the case as of now.
“It has been brought to our attention that an England player has posted historic offensive material on their social media account. We are looking into it and will make a further comment in due course,” the ECB mentioned in a statement.
Dom Bess Deactivates Twitter After Being Selected For 2nd Test vs NZ
Meanwhile, the Dom Bess Twitter account has been deactivated by the spinner. The Dom Bess Twitter account deactivation could be a precautionary measure after what happened to Robinson. The development came just a few hours after Bess was included in England’s squad for the second Test match against Kiwis.
“Dom Bess has deactivated his Twitter account. I suspect if these odd people insist on trawling back through cricketer’s old posts, he won’t be the last to do so. Then fans miss out on the opportunity for direct interaction with players. Which I think is a loss,” renowned journalist Elizabeth Ammon tweeted.

Speaking of Bess’ selection in the England team, coach Chris Silverwood said:
“The reason we’ve added Dom is that any cover we may need has to be in here with us. If Jack was to feature, we would need back-up for him in terms of concussion replacements and things like that. If we are looking at playing a spinner and Jack were to get injured leading into the game, then we will need someone else there as well. It’s making sure we cover that.”
