‘Don’t Play for Personal Milestones’ – Shoaib Akhtar’s Warning to Babar Azam & Co. Ahead of India vs Pakistan Clash

Shoaib Akhtar urged the Pakistan players not to play for personal milestones against India in T20 World Cup 2024.

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has fired a warning shot to his national team ahead of their high-pressure T20 World Cup clash against arch-rivals India in New York on June 9 at Nassau County Cricket Stadium.

Shoaib Akhtar urged the Pakistan team to prioritize team victory over personal milestones in a video message. This comes after Pakistan’s disappointing start to the tournament, where they were stunned by tournament newcomers USA in their opening match.

“Pakistan, play out of your skin. Play for Pakistan. Don’t play for individual records,” Akhtar said.

Watch Shoaib Akhtar’s Message to Pakistan:

Pakistan’s task is monumental, considering India’s dominance over them in T20 World Cups. India has a staggering 6-1 win record against Pakistan in the tournament’s history.

Further adding to the pressure, India registered a convincing win over Ireland in their opening match, while Babar Azam & Co. needs a strong performance to bounce back from their shocking defeat.

Currently, USA leads Group A with two wins, followed by India. Pakistan sits precariously at the fourth position, needing a win against India to improve their qualification chances.
