Drop Yashasvi Jaiswal, Open With Virat Kohli-Rohit Sharma in T20 World Cup 2024: Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly wants Virat Kohli to open for India in T20 World Cup 2024.

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has advocated for Virat Kohli to open for Team India instead of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Ganguly believes that Kohli’s best batting position is as an opener, a role he has excelled in while playing for RCB over the past few years.

In the IPL 2024, Virat Kohli emerged as the highest run scorer with 741 runs and was a key factor behind RCB’s remarkable comeback in the tournament, leading them to the playoffs.

Here is what Sourav Ganguly told RevSportz:

“I would open with Virat Kohli in this T20 World Cup. I want Virat to bat the way he did for RCB. He has to bat with freedom, and he is a great player.”

However, if Kohli opens for India, Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to sit out of the playing XI, as the team cannot afford to shuffle the position of their captain, Rohit Sharma.

In case Yashasvi Jaiswal does not make it to the XI, Suryakumar Yadav is expected to bat at number three, a position where he has consistently excelled for the Mumbai Indians.
