Ex-England Captain Lashes Out At Ben Stokes for Not Picking James Anderson in 1st IND vs ENG Test
James Anderson has not been picked up in the first Test against India.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain criticized Ben Stokes and the England management for omitting pace spearhead James Anderson in the first Test match against India at Hyderabad.
The England team opted for a strange bowling lineup, featuring three spinners, including two inexperienced ones in Rehan Ahmed and debutant Tom Hartley. Mark Wood is the sole specialist fast bowler.
The inclusion of pace spearhead James Anderson could have provided support to Mark Wood and lightened the spinners’ workload. Furthermore, his experience in Asian conditions would have been advantageous for the team.
Here’s what Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports:
“James Anderson’s skills in the subcontinent have been exceptional in the last few years,” Hussain told Sky Sports. “Anderson is quite a good player when he is the side. He is England’s greatest ever bowler, he needed to play.”
Meanwhile, England finished day three with the scorecard reading 316/6 in their second innings with a lead of 126 runs. Ollie Pope and Rehan Ahmed will continue batting on the fourth day of the Test.
