Ex-Indian Cricketer Highlights Rinku Singh’s Similarities to MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya

Rinku Singh finished the match for India against Australia in the first T20I.

Former Indian cricketer Abhishek Nayar compared Rinku Singh’s match-finishing abilities to those of the former Indian captain MS Dhoni after Rinku Singh finished the match for India against Australia in the first T20I at Visakhapatnam.

Rinku Singh scored an unbeaten 22 runs from 14 balls, aiding India in chasing down the 209-run target with the victory coming on the penultimate ball of the inning.

Here’s what Abhishek Nayar told Sports18:

“MS Dhoni played the finisher’s role for years. Hardik Pandya is doing it at the moment. We have Rinku Singh, who has similar qualities. He scored 22 runs but look at the value of those runs. He will not be able to win games every time but a player like him is important.”

Earlier, Ishan Kishan and Surykumar Yadav laid the foundation of the run-chase, hitting 58 and 80 runs respectively. India will face Australia in the 2nd T20I on November 26 at Thiruvananthapuram.
