Fastest Century by Indians in IPL History: Vaibhav Suryavanshi Creates History

Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits 35 ball century in IPL 2025

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has stunned the Indian Premier League world by smashing the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history. The 14-year-old southpaw hammered a 100 off just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. With this, he broke Yusuf Pathan’s long-standing record of a 37-ball century against Mumbai Indians in 2010.

Here’s the list of fastest centuries by Indians in IPL:

  • 35 balls: Vaibhav Suryavanshi vs GT (2025)
  • 37 balls: Yusuf Pathan vs MI (2010)
  • 39 balls: Priyansh vs CSK (2025)
  • 40 balls: Abhishek vs PBKS (2025)

Vaibhav’s heroics don’t end here. He also became the youngest batter ever to hit a fifty in IPL history. He achieved this at the age of 14 years and 32 days against Gujarat Titans while chasing a big score of 210 runs. His 17-ball fifty was decorated with 6 sixes and 3 fours, helping Rajasthan Royals to a powerful start.

Before Vaibhav, the record for the youngest IPL fifty was held by his Rajasthan Royals teammates. Riyan Parag had scored a fifty at 17 years and 175 days, while Sanju Samson reached the milestone at 18 years and 169 days.

The young sensation made his IPL debut against Lucknow Super Giants, scoring 34 runs off 20 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 2 fours. In his second match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he scored 16 runs off 12 deliveries, smashing 2 sixes.

Bought for INR 1.1 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction by Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav has already started paying back the faith. In the match against Gujarat Titans, he stitched a quickfire partnership of 87 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal during the powerplay itself.

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Rajasthan Royals, is giving full support to Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The youngster, who represents Bihar in domestic cricket, has already shown his potential by smashing a century for India U-19 against Australia U-19.

Vaibhav’s 17-ball half-century is now the fastest fifty in IPL 2025, beating Nicholas Pooran’s earlier record, who had reached the mark in 18 balls. With the way Vaibhav Suryavanshi is progressing, Indian cricket seems to have found a future superstar.
