GT vs MI: Why Vignesh Puthur Is Not Playing Today’s IPL 2025 Match?
Vignesh Puthur, who impressed in the last match with a three-wicket haul, is not playing today as Mumbai Indians made changes with Hardik Pandya's return.

Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and decided to bowl first against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 9 of IPL 2025. The match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This game also marks the return of Hardik Pandya as MI’s captain after missing the previous match, where Suryakumar Yadav led the team.
Vignesh Puthur Left Out of MI’s Playing XI
One of the biggest surprises for MI fans was the exclusion of Vignesh Puthur from the playing XI.
The young bowler impressed everyone in the last match against Chennai Super Kings with a three-wicket haul. However, he is neither in the starting XI nor among the impact substitutes for this match.
It is assumed that Hardik Pandya’s return to the team resulted in Puthur missing out.
Gujarat Titans Stick to Their Previous XI
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have made no changes to their lineup. Captain Shubman Gill stated at the toss that they were also looking to bowl first but are confident in their strong batting order. With Gill and Sai Sudharsan opening, followed by Jos Buttler at No. 3, GT aims for a solid start.
